"Connected"
Young Adults Ministry
"Connected" ministry is lead by Ashley and Barton Corley. Ashley grew up at First Assembly and she states, "I never thought I would be ministering to my own age, but over a process of several months, God began to work in my life and put a burden in my heart for my generation." The generation she refers to are ages 18 to 30 something.
The purpose of the "Connected" group is to reach out to those who are lost and hurting. The best way the ministry group reaches out is by building relationships with people and showing unconditional love. "Connected" members want the lost to know that it doesn't matter what they are currently going through or involved in, they care about souls and want everyone to experience God's freedom and peace in the midst of trials.
At the very first meeting, everyone had to introduce themselves and give their occupations. Several married couples said they were "connected" to "so and so", and several of the singles said they were not "connected. Ashley recalls how funny it was that the word "connected" kept coming up over and over that evening many laughs associated. The focus of the ministry is to get young people of the church involved and connected, and so "CONNECTED" was born!
In the "Connected" group are others who are either single, married, single moms, or divorced. All that is required is that every person comes as they are. Members of the group have many lost friends and family members; they are praying that God will use each of them to greatly impact the lives of their loved ones.
